What a pin actually costs
Plans are priced in credits because a Pinterest pin is not one fixed unit of work — the image model does most of the spending, and you choose the model per pin. There are three image quality tiers, and a finished pin (copy, keywords and image together) costs:
- Fast — about 3 credits. Roughly 300 pins on the 900-credit Growth plan. Good for drafts, volume and testing angles.
- High Quality — about 5 credits. Roughly 180 pins on Growth. The default, and genuinely hard to distinguish from Premium in a Pinterest feed.
- Premium — about 13 credits. Roughly 69 pins on Growth. Worth it for flagship pins and campaigns, not for everything.
Two other actions spend credits: one AI article costs 1 credit, and one WordPress opportunity-scan batch costs 1 credit — posts that have not changed since the last scan are never re-scored, so re-scanning a large site is free. Editing a pin in the designer costs nothing.
Unused credits roll over from cycle to cycle. If you need more without changing plan, one-time packs are available: 100 credits for $12, 500 for $50, or 1,000 for $90.
The full arithmetic, including how to spend less per pin, is in the guide to cheaper AI pins.
What the free trial actually is
Seven days, and it takes a card. Checkout opens a Stripe subscription with a seven-day trial period: nothing is charged during those seven days, and the first real charge happens automatically when they end unless you cancel first. Cancel before day seven and you are not billed at all.
The trial includes a one-time allowance of 30 credits — enough for roughly ten pins on Fast or six on High Quality, which is the point at which you can judge the output on your own content. Those credits expire when the trial ends; they are not added to your first paid cycle.
It is one trial per account. If you start another subscription later, it opens as a normal paid checkout rather than a second free week, and the checkout page says so before you confirm.
Is anything free forever?
The ten Pinterest tools are — no account, no card, no limit. The Free plan is different: its 15 credits apply to your first month only. It is a trial allowance, not an ongoing free tier, and it is described that way everywhere it appears.
